The 54th Estoril Open de Portugal Golf Championship will be played from 10 to 13 June at Penha Longa Hotel Spa & Golf Resort.
The rescheduling of the main Portuguese golf tournament for early summer is due to the transfer of the Austria Open to 16 to 19 September on the 2010 European Tour calendar, which includes the Estoril event. The Portuguese championship was originally scheduled for April.
The change of date is good for the Estoril Open de Portugal as, in summer, the Atlantic Course at Penha Longa will be in excellent condition for the European Tour championship after a substantial two-million-euro remodelling programme.
Regarding the new dates for the event, Manuel Agrellos, president of Federação Portuguesa de Golfe, said, “The Estoril Open de Portugal is one of the oldest, most important tournaments in the European Tour and this extra time will guarantee the best possible test for the best players in Europe”.
