In November, Estoril hosts once again the biggest film festival in Portugal, Estoril Film Festival 2009, a unique event where cinema is experienced in interaction with painting, photography and fine art. Cantered on cinema and European directors, this event will feature 12 competing films.
The films will be selected by a leading panel including the US photographer and film director Cindy Sherman; the musician, leader of Talking Heads and director, David Byrne; regarded as one of the most active composers in Hollywood, Alexandre Desplat; founder of the artistic production centre “O Espaço do Tempo”, Rui Horta, one of the leading promoters of a new generation of dancers and choreographers, and the founder of the legendary ECM Records, Manfred Eicher.
The great premieres of films that will be part of next year’s film season are in the noncompetitive category, being the most recent works of leading directors.
